Several non-profit organizations assessed the Chicago area tree canopy and produced an informative document on the current tree canopy and how much land there is in Arlington Heights to expand the tree canopy. This document includes easy to follow graphs depicting how much non-permeable surfaces there are in Arlington Heights as compared to Cook County.
There is an excellent section about invasive species and where they are located and another great section about bringing back our native oak ecosystems and why they are so important.
This document was downloaded from the Morton Arboretum website at https://mortonarb.org/plant-and-protect/chicago-region-trees-initiative/community-tree-canopy-summaries/ where you can download your community’s tree canopy assessment.
